Oxytetracycline induces anxiety-like behavior in adult zebrafish

چکیده
Oxytetracycline (OTC) is one of the broad-spectrum antibiotics widely used for treatment fish-farm infection. Considering that behavior directly related to reproduction, individual fitness, and survival, it important evaluate impact on behavioral repertoire in fish. Zebrafish (Danio rerio) presents a well-described reliably demonstrate complex responses chemical compound exposure. This work aims identify role OTC comprehensive parameters whole-body cortisol levels adult zebrafish. Here we report exposure (10, 20, 100 mg/L) induces an anxiogenic-like phenotype novel tank test. also changes social interaction with shoal unknown zebrafish - characterized as stimulus group. exposed (10 remains longer period zone when compared control Clonazepam (0.006 was able reverse induced by OTC. We demonstrated were significantly decreased after mg/L), which not reversed clonazepam. These findings highlight growing utility model understand their underlying mechanisms.

Flutamide treatment induces anxiolytic-like behavior in adult castrated rats.
BACKGROUND It has previously been speculated that the androgen receptor antagonist flutamide produces behavioral effects that are not mediated by androgen receptors. These earlier studies were performed in intact rodents and thus, flutamide may have interfered with endogenous testosterone produced by the testes. The main objective of the present study was to examine whether flutamide induces an...
متن کاملModafinil decreases anxiety-like behaviour in zebrafish
Modafinil (2-((diphenylmethyl)sulfinyl)acetamide), a selective dopamine and norepinephrine transporter inhibitor, is most commonly prescribed for narcolepsy but has gained recent interest for treating a variety of disorders. Zebrafish (Danio rerio) are becoming a model of choice for pharmacological and behavioural research. To investigate the behavioural effects of modafinil on anxiety, we admi...
متن کاملEnhanced sympathetic nerve activity induced by neonatal colon inflammation induces gastric hypersensitivity and anxiety-like behavior in adult rats.
Gastric hypersensitivity (GHS) and anxiety are prevalent in functional dyspepsia patients; their underlying mechanisms remain unknown largely because of lack of availability of live visceral tissues from human subjects. Recently, we demonstrated in a preclinical model that rats subjected to neonatal colon inflammation show increased basal plasma norepinephrine (NE), which contributes to GHS thr...
متن کاملLactobacillus plantarum attenuates anxiety-related behavior and protects against stress-induced dysbiosis in adult zebrafish
The consumption of probiotics has become increasingly popular as a means to try to improve health and well-being. Not only are probiotics considered beneficial to digestive health, but increasing evidence suggests direct and indirect interactions between gut microbiota (GM) and the central nervous system (CNS). Here, adult zebrafish were supplemented with Lactobacillus plantarum to determine th...
متن کاملPharmacological modulation of anxiety-like phenotypes in adult zebrafish behavioral models.
Zebrafish (Danio rerio) are becoming increasingly popular in neurobehavioral research. Here, we summarize recent data on behavioral responses of adult zebrafish to a wide spectrum of putative anxiolytic and anxiogenic agents. Using the novel tank test as a sensitive and efficient behavioral assay, zebrafish anxiety-like behavior can be bi-directionally modulated by drugs affecting the gamma-ami...
